Laurie, your approach makes perfect sense to me. If you want a different body, you have to change the equation somehow. Imagine your future healthy self, what foods you would eat, how many calories you would need, and start living that life now!
I literally got chills when I heard your final comment: “Start eating like your life depends on it, because it does.” (paraphrased) Thank you for this informative and inspiring video! Congrats on your health turnaround! God bless you!
Excellent! You are absolutely right about doctors only helping people MANAGE their diabetes KNOWING that it is actually curable! Great job!
The pause when she waits for laughter and it’s dead silent is so uncomfortable.
“i craved carbohydrates, i didnt need to eat.. what i needed was a nap.” *my jaw drops* …i am now woke..
“Fidgeting can burn up to 200 300 cals”
*starts shaking leg vigorously*
I really resonated when she said that my body is perfect for my current life. That’s such an awesome perspective, because it means that with every small change of diet or exercise your body will adjust. You don’t have to go cold turkey low carb or vegan or whatever. Thank you!
Who’s in quarantine and need to watch this for motivation
For those that need to see it again – “Imagine your healthy future self and start living that life now. Break your journey down into little battles you can win. Become your own science experiment. And come up with strategies that will last for two days, or two years. And most of all, you need to start eating like your life depends on it… because it does.”
I am going to keep it real with you guys. No shame in here. The heaviest I’ve been was 115kg. As a black guy, no one really tells you that, hey man, you may wanna cut back or something like that. You may receive some fat jokes here and there, but you don’t really get, like a real sit down moment, to be told about the repercussions of your health.
So, I lived most of my life thinking I was completely okay until I found myself in a position where I didn’t feel comfortable taking pictures anymore. This was after I saw a picture of myself with my brothers that are older than me, but in the picture, they looked like they could be my nephews or sons.
This wasn’t anyone’s fault. I brought this onto myself and I had no one to blame, but myself. Yet I felt so mad at the world, at anyone who walked with their shirt off at a pool party, at the girls my age that called me sir and at my mom for the most time . I felt like she had the power to tell me to stop eating and she did not.
The truth is there was nothing anyone could have done to help me. I ate at odd hours of the night, I spent my days sleeping, I had a snack every time my mouth felt like I needed something to chew, not because I was hungry and my meals had so much sugar if they were to test my blood those days it was going to be sweet.
So, I tried exercising, but we all know how that goes. you can only be serious with it for maybe a week if you are strong enough. I did not reaaly start breaking through untill i discovered this book” Eating Healthy “ . It sort of gave me a pespective of how i was going about it all wrong. Basically ,you have to eat right to have the energy to even start exercising to lose weight. The key is in eating the right foods and knowing when to and when not to eat the heavy foods. Not going on unessesary diets that starve you.Which then makes you eat twice as much when you finaly get real food. The book above helped me to the point where i lost a shocking 30kg . i cant even wear anything i used to wear before the weight loss. i can go an entire night without waking up for food now. i can run for at least 5km without feeling like am going to die. I can feel good being around other people knowing that am not the topic . I have real confidence in myself now. Instead of wearing a thick skin i used to put on ,to brushing off every fat joke ,yet dying inside.
Thank you for reading my story i hope the book works for you as well dear reader.
This is what I’ve learnt in the last 28 years of yo-yo dieting. Eat real food, don’t eat junk food and walk. It’s really that simple.
Man when nobody laughed at her joke, it took all my willpower to finish the video. Absolutely brutal crowd.
Wow that was incredible and more meaningful than anything I’ve ever seen on social media before. I fell down a very dark hole when my late father (the beautiful sweet soul he was) was diagnosed with bone cancer. I was already struggling with my weight and I ballooned even more when he passed away. I no longer cared for a long time and when covid 19 happened I was so depressed that I didn’t even care any more about how I looked and it was very depressing. So glad I found out about channels like My Thoughts Will Probably Offend You (Michelle McDaniel) Kiana Docherty and Beatrice Caruso. They gave me back my strength
